New FASTag Rules: Mandatory KYC Updates, Replacement for 5-Year-Old Tags, and Seamless Recharge via Paytm—Effective from August 1!

New FASTag regulations have been implemented as of August 1, aiming to enhance toll payment efficiency and reduce congestion at toll booths. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced mandatory KYC updates and other key changes to streamline the process. Additionally, Paytm has launched a feature allowing users to recharge FASTags directly through its app, despite recent regulatory challenges.

5 Major Key Points:

1. Replacement of 5-Year-Old FASTags: FASTags older than five years must be replaced to ensure up-to-date functionality.
2. KYC Update for 3-Year-Old FASTags: KYC details must be updated for FASTags that were issued three years ago.
3. Linking Vehicle Details: The vehicle registration number and chassis number must be linked to the FASTag for verification.
4. New Vehicle Registration Update: New vehicle registration numbers must be updated within 90 days of purchase.
5. Mobile Number Linking: FASTags must be linked to a mobile number for streamlined communication and updates.
